9-year old Arab boy drowns in Umm Al Quwain hotel pool

A nine-year-old Arab boy drowned in a swimming pool at a hotel in Umm Al Quwain and authorities blamed his family for the tragedy.

Civil Defence chief Lt Colonel Hassan bin Saram said the boy drowned on Saturday while swimming unattended at the pool in the hotel.

“Families should watch their children and now allow them to go to swim on their own, Swimming pools at some hotels are not suitable for children below 10 years,” he said, quoted by the semi-official daily Al Ittihad, which did not name the boy or the hotel.

Man kills 7-year old girl

A 62-year old Egyptian man called a 7-year-old girl to his flat, stripped her and molested her, before he wrapped her own pants around her neck and strangled her.

When he was asked why he did so, he replied coldly “it’s God will.”

Mustafa Mohammed Dargham from Cairo said he felt ashamed of committing such a crime as he has daughters and that he would demand the maximum punishment against anybody who would do this to his children.

“I called her and she came without fear. She went into my house and I murdered her and took her jewelry,” he said, quoted by the Egyptian daily Alwatan.

“After I strangled her with her trousers, I put her body in a bag and threw it in the garbage.”

Asked why he had committed such a crime against Basmala Tariq Eid, he said: “I am not sure but it’s God’s will, I can tell you that she did not resist because I grabbed her neck firmly and strangled her, I felt a little hit sorry for her but I am not much affected.”
