Abu Dhabi Healthcare Group partners with Penn Medicine

The University of Pennsylvania Health System (UPHS) has entered into a strategic partnership with Abu Dhabi-based healthcare group, VPS Healthcare.

The new partnership will explore among other things, collaborative initaitives to establish and enhance education and research activities to improve patients care, continuing medical education for physicians, nurses and other allied healthcare professionals.

Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Managing Director, VPS Healthcare and Mr. Ralph Muller, CEO, University of Pennsylvania Health System signed the agreement on Monday at the Rosewood Hotel, Abu Dhabi in the presence of senior officials from both the groups.

“It is an historic occasion for both organizations. We are very excited about the partnership and for an internationally recognized and prestigious institution like Penn Medicine to partner with us, a private and multinational provider health system, speaks volumes for us,” said Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Managing Director, VPS Healthcare.

Speaking about the collaboration, Mr. Ralph Muller, CEO, University of Pennsylvania Health System, said, “It is indeed a strategic opportunity to work with a visionary organization like VPS.  They do exemplary work here in the UAE. Their commitment to excellence and eagerness to partner with the best for outstanding patient care services and other programs at its various institutions across the region is truly commendable.”

Professionals working in the healthcare field need to update their professional knowledge and competence through regular ongoing education that is mandatory according to the UAE health authority rules.

Many doctors attend international and regional medical conferences to gain grades and points for this purpose.
