Ajman Police nabbed a gang of four Asians who stole Dh200,000 from a motorist in the emirate.

Colonel Abdallah Saif Al Matrooshi, Director, Criminal Investigation Department, Ajman Police, said police was acting on a complaint received by the victim.

The suspects had been following the victim since he withdrew money from a bank in Ajman and had planned to rob him, Col. Matrooshi said and added that the unsuspecting motorist discovered one of the tyres had a problem when he began driving away from the bank.

So he stopped and stepped out to check the tyres when the suspects made away with the money bag. They fled in a waiting car.

Col. Matrooshi said the motorist, however, was quick in noticing the licence plate of the car and immediately contacted police.

A security team set out and found the suspects’ car and began chasing it. In their desperate attempt at escaping police, they collided with other cars. And eventually they were all caught. All four suspects were in the same car, Col. Matrooshi said.

The gang (NMA; SN; AQA and NMK) confessed to targeting the victim with the aim of robbing him. They had punctured the motorist’s car tyre and waited for him to step out and check it.

Col. Matrooshi urged public to exercise caution when withdrawing huge sums of money.
