Ajman road crash puts 7 in hospital

In the latest traffic accident in the UAE seven workers were injured when two passenger buses collided in Ajman.

Salem Al Za’abi, Head, Customer Services, Civil Defence Department, Ajman, said the incident took place Al Humaidiya road in Ajman on Monday.

Ambulances were rushed to the site immediately and the injured transferred to Sheikh Khalifa hospital.

2 deaths, 195 mishaps in Dubai since Ramadan

Fatal traffic accidents have been reported since the Holy month of Ramadan began. Two people died in Dubai in the last four days, according to a top police official.

Brig Omar Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi, Director, Command and Control Centre, Dubai Police, said 3,605 accidents have been reported since the beginning of Ramadan.

Overspeeding shortly before Iftar in the evening is the cause of majority of mishaps. "We have recorded 195 accidents at this hour alone," added Shamsi.

One person died on Saturday morning in Sofouh when a labour transport bus collided with a truck. Six workers were injured in the mishap, said Col Saif Mohair Al Mazrouei, Acting Director-General, Traffic Police. 

The second death occured at Garhoud Bridge on Thursday evening.

The officials urged public to take care and drive safe especially ahead of breaking the fast in the evening.

Shamsi said the department received 23,417 telephone calls since the beginning of Ramadan.
