An Asian man is on trial in Abu Dhabi on charges of sending obscene pictures to a woman through WhatsApp, while he was in his home country.
The unnamed defendant denied the charges and said he had lost his GSM Sim card just before leaving the UAE for his home country, where he stayed for nearly 10 months before returning to work for another company.
He said he was surprised to be summoned by the police upon his return to Abu Dhabi, adding that was even more surprised by the woman’s accusations as he knows her.
Newspapers said the judge set Nov 17 for issuing a sentence in the case.
