Etisalat and Emirates Auctions have announced the launch of an auction of exclusive VIP numbers along with the new mobile code (054).

The auction this year will introduce the new code 0544000000 along with 40 unique mobile numbers.

There are four categories for the VIP customer, which are gold, platinum, diamond and diamond plus.

The only ‘Diamond+’ number available in the auction is 054-4000000, which is listed for a whopping Dh437,000.

The price may go up when the auction starts at 4pm on Saturday April 23, 2016. Do people pay that kind of money for a mobile number? Sure they do.

“Etisalat’s auction of VIP numbers and packages is an opportunity to provide exclusivity to our esteemed customers,” says Fares Hamad Fares, VP Corporate Communication.

The VIP numbers can be taken with exclusive Etisalat packages created including the latest smartphones, data, SMSs, local and international minutes.

Among the ‘Diamond’ numbers in the ‘054’ code VIP auction are 4333333, 4444440, 4444445, 4666666 and 4999999 – all listed at Dh146,000 each.

The ‘Gold’ numbers are the most ‘affordable’ – listed at Dh16,500 each, and include numbers like (all with 054 code) 4000400, 4040000, 4055555, 4400044, 4404444, etc.

Some other ‘Gold’ with the 056 code that are part of the auction include 2288888, 3333373, 8855555 and 7777768, etc.

Etisalat says it will donate part of the proceeds of the auction to charity, with a portion of the auction proceeds going to the Khalifa Humanitarian Foundation while another part will be used to support Etisalat’s CSR projects.

“This also provides a platform to contribute to the society as part of our existing CSR strategy and a commitment to the country. Our partnership with Khalifa Foundation is in line with our overall organisational objectives that will bring a positive impact to the society,” says Fares.

Abdullah Matar Al Mannai, Executive Director at Emirates Auction said, “We would like to take this opportunity to thank Etisalat for all its efforts in supporting national initiatives and contributing to projects that help strengthen the principles of CSR in commercial companies. Such joint efforts with the government and the private sector serves the community targetting all sectors of the society.”

The numbers, along with the relevant packages, will be auctioned by the Emirates Auctions Company on Saturday, April 23 at Armani Hotel, Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
