Daredevil hanging from Dubai Marina tower… with bare hands

A new video has emerged of a British daredevil hanging nearly 150 metres from a crane atop a tower in Dubai Marina without the use of any safety harness, rope, nor, it would appear, a care in the world.

This incredible footage from such dizzying heights is not a first by free climber James Kingston, who filmed this particular stunt last year, but has only just released it on his YouTube page.

Certainly not for the faint hearted, this 1.20 seconds’ footage follows Kingston as he walks across the precipice of this unnamed tower, before climbing the crane perched atop the building’s pinnacle.

The footage gets even more hair-raising when he takes a moment to swing freely from one of the metal rungs of the crane, using just one hand, while his body dangles precariously with the Dubai skyline as his backdrop.

In an interview with 'Emirates24|7', Kingston confessed there were more such videos filmed in Dubai that will be released shortly.

The 24-year-old stated: “This [particular video] was filmed last year on my first ever trip to Dubai. I filmed a lot and have so much more content to release.”

Quiz him about the tower in question and he said: “I don't know the name of it, but it was a short walk from the Cayan Tower.

“This one was about 150m in height.

“I don't know names but I did a few. One has been released already on my YouTube channel and I have a huge one to release in the near future.”

The Southampton-based thrill-seeker also had his brush with local authorities last year after he was caught reportedly climbing Princess Tower, one of the tallest buildings in Dubai.

While Kingston returned home shortly after, his Instagram account indicated he spent five days on a climbing tour of Dubai.

As Kingston readies to reveal another such video, quiz him about the number of towers or landmarks he’s scaled and he said: “I've lost count of how many things I've climbed. Must be over 100 by now.”

So does the saying stand true, ‘don’t look down’ when attempting such a treacherous feat at such heights?

He said: “For me there's no point going up if you're not gonna look down!”

Asked him if he has a wish list and Kingston said: “Yeah, the Burj Khalifa is the ultimate!”
