Residents displaced in the Deira building fire are being given accommodation for three months.

“They will be given accommodation for three months,” he said, adding the paper work has already been completed.

“We have booked 20 one-bedroom apartments.  We are working in association with the Philippine Consulate and helping the residents,” he said.

After the fire broke out on Monday night, many residents were provided accommodation in City Star and Sky hotels in the area.

The reason for the fire that gutted the front of the five-storey building in Deira on Monday evening is still under investigation.

"We are registering their names and establishing what help they need. Some have lost their documents, while some need accommodation. We are collecting information," he said.
