Barosaurus, a long-necked, plant-eating dinosaur, and Allosaurus, the carnivore, once of the Jurassic period, have arrived in Dubai.

Since their extinction 65 million years ago, dinosaurs will now freely roam in the Lost Valley – Dinosaur Adventure Zone - at the IMG Worlds of Adventure theme park in City of Arabia, Dubailand, in 2016.

“The installation of the 69 dinosaurs in Lost Valley marks one of the final stages of completion for the world’s largest multi-brand indoor theme park,” IMG said in a statement.

The company has collaborated with Kokoro, a Japanese animatronics company, to produce the creatures of the Lost Valley.

Within the valley, visitors will be transported to the prehistoric era where they can track down the dinosaurs, watch them in their natural environment, and see/hear them roar or feast on their prey.

Among the biggest of the pack of dinosaurs will be the Barosaurus and the Allosaurus.

Taking up to five years to create, the Barosaurus is over 15.5 metres in height.

“Kokoro has used hydraulics to replicate their unique movements, their scales have been hand-sculpted by specialist artists while a thin covering layer of silicone gives their skin a shiny, life-like appearance, similar to modern day living reptiles,” the company said.

For thrill seekers, The Lost Valley will have 'The Velociraptor', a launch coaster (Velociraptor dinosaur is called ‘speedy thief’ and is a medium-sized Cretaceous predator with a large, sickle-shaped toe claw) that will propel visitors to a 100 kilometres per hour in 2.5 seconds. It will have four inversions with its biggest loop topping 105 feet high.

The IMG Worlds of Adventure has three more zones, which include Marvel, Cartoon Network and IMG Boulevard.

The overall individual zoned entertainment destination will be in excess of 1.5 million square feet in its first stage and is claimed to be the largest temperature controlled indoor entertainment destination in the world.

Emirates 24|7 reported earlier that the 350,000-square-feet Marvel Zone will include retail outlets, dining facilities and a range of interactive entertainment experiences featuring many of Marvel’s super hero icons including Spider-Man and Avengers such as The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man and Thor.

The Cartoon Network Zone spread across 200,000 square feet will feature the Amazing World of Gumball, Adventure Time and LazyTown.

It will also feature world’s largest Ben 10 retail store and the first ever Ben 10 5D ride, along with branded restaurants and other branded immersive experiences.

Meraas Holding, another Dubai-based company, has commenced work on the phase one of the Dh10-billion entertainment and leisure development in Jebel Ali, with three theme parks set to open by end of 2016.
