Driver charged for luring maid in bid to rape her

The Dubai Criminal Court of First instance awarded a Bangladeshi domestic servant three months jail followed by deportation for molesting a Filipina maid in a flat on their way back from processing medical test, the Dubai Criminal Court heard.

On September 11, at around 9 am, the victim SMM, 25, went with MEM, 25, to the medical centre at Oud Al Muteena to process medical formalities.

“After finishing, MEM asked me to come with him for a minute to one of the buildings which I do not know the location. As I trusted him, I went with him to a flat where there was another Bangladeshi man. MEM spoke to him and the later left the flat. MEM locked the door and started molesting me against my will and tried to undress me. I kicked him and rushed to the bathroom and locked the door. From behind the door he promised not to touch me and begged me not to tell our sponsor. I opened the door and left the flat with him. As we reached our sponsor’s house I told Halima, an Ethiopian maid who works in the house, about what had happened and she told our sponsor’s wife,” SMM testified.

Mohammed Afzal, 28, Bangladeshi salesman testified that at around 10am he got a phone call from MEM telling that he has some stuff which he wants to deliver him.

“I asked him to come to my accommodation in the International City. MEM arrived at around 2pm and a Filipina was with him. He gave me the stuff and we all moved to my flat and while we were in my flat I got a call from my work asking me to come. I left the flat but MEM wanted to have some rest, I agreed and asked him to leave the key of the house under the door mat. I do not know what happened after I left,” he testified.

Halima Abdo, 27, testified that SMM was not normal when she returned from medical test.

“She was crying the whole day and refused to tell me the reason when I asked her. As she did not sleep the whole night and was crying I repeated my question. At around 5pm the next day she told me what MEM did to her in his friend’s flat. I told my sponsor’s wife and so she did,” testified Halima.

Bobi Jain, 35, Filipina, employee testified that on September 15, at around 11am he got a call from SMM who was crying and scared telling him that she does not want to work with the family and wants to return back to the office.

“Asking her about the reason she told me that her employer’s driver molested her and tried to rape her. Later in the day, the sponsor’s wife called the officer and I told her about the incident,” he testified.

The court adjourned the hearing till next date.
