Fujairah fishermen stumbled across the body of a 14-year-old Emirati boy who died after drowning in the sea while swimming with two friends.

Police divers who had combed a large part of the beach had failed to find the boy following a report by two other boys that Sultan Ahmed bin Aboud had vanished.

The three boys were swimming in that area in the afternoon when Aboud went missing, prompting his two friends to report his disappearance to the police.

“Police operations in the sea lasted more than two hours but the body was not found,” ‘Al Bayan’ daily said, quoting Fujairah police spokesman Saeed Al Hasaei.

“After police divers gave up the search, the body was found in a dangerous sea area by a group of fishermen who had cast down their nets for fishing….the boy was taken to Fujairah Hospital but he was already dead.”

‘Al Bayan’ said Aboud’s body was later handed to his family and was buried last night.
