Drunk man robs Dubai shop twice in one hour

A drunk man went into a grocery in Dubai in the evening, punched its Indian owner and stole nearly Dh1,800 and Dh2,000 worth of mobile call credit cards before fleeing.

An hour later, he returned to the same shop and threatened a worker with a knife before he was caught red handed by the police rushing to the shop in Oud Muteena area.

“It was the most stupid robbery in Dubai in nearly a year,” the Arabic language daily Alkhaleej said. “The thief came back to the same shop to fall into police grip.”

The paper said the unnamed thief returned to the shop an hour later and screamed at the worker after he learned that they informed the police.

It said the owner was at the hospital when the thief returned to his shop, adding that the worker phoned the police while the thief was still there.

“Police rushed to the shop and found that the thief was still there threatening the worker…they could smell alcohol when they came close to him.”
