It takes a lot of hard work to keep your plants green and lush in Dubai and the last thing you’d want is to see them wither while you go away on a holiday in the summer months.

Most residents resort to their staycationing friends to look after their plants while they are away but, quite often, friends do travel at the same time and your neighbours or friends may not be that versed – or keen – to take care of your plants, leaving many to decay.

A plant summer camp organised by the Dubai Garden Centre can help you if you are looking for a place to house your plants as you get ready to jet out. This camp will take care and nurture the potted plants and with professional care, you can get the back them just as they were handed over – or even better.

“For the first time in the UAE, during the summer, you will be able to drop off your indoor plants at the Dubai Garden Centre and they will be taken care of as if they were their own. Who knows, they might not even want to go back home,” reads a message on the Garden Centre’s Facebook page.

The camp will be hosted from June 25 until August 30 when most families are away during the school break. To be eligible for the camp, your plant should be of an indoor variety and less than 1.25m tall. “Here, they will be watered, fertilised and fed, everything that takes them to be healthy,” the centre states.

The best part of the camp is that it is free of cost, and owners can get social media updates to confirm that their plants are doing fine.

“This is wonderful,” said a resident living in The Meadows Dubai. “The garden is taken care of by the gardener, but it’s the indoor plants that suffer as we can’t give access to the house to someone else when we are away. I have a good 10 potted plants to be taken care of and I will rush to register before all places are taken away,” she added.
