Dubai Police arrests 35 beggars

Dubai Police has arrested a number of beggars in the annual anti-begging campaign, which started just before the holy month of Ramadan.

A total of 35 beggars were arrested in Dubai during the campaign, 26 were men, seven were women and two were children, according to Colonel Mohammad Rashid bin Surai Al Muhairi, Director of the Tourism Security Department at Dubai Police.

Bin Surai urged all citizens and residents not to be sympathetic with beggars and instead donate to charities.

He also asked the public to report beggars to 0502106969 or the toll-free number 800 – CID (800 243), or via the department official email: cid@dubaipolice.gov.ae
