Dubai Police rescue 3 from being buried alive

Three workers were rescued from a sand pit which caved in at a construction site.

The workers were digging a four-metre hole when the sand collapsed and burying them to the waist.

The accident occurred in a construction site in Al Qusais Industrial at 4pm last Monday.

Dubai Police Rescue Department along with paramedics, engineers on location and workers tried to dig out the three workers.

Captain Ali Al Qusaib who managed the rescue said that the rescue attempt was difficult despite the tricky nature of sand avalanches. The workers were in difficult positions and the size of the hole which kept on collapsing during the rescue had to be held by wooden planks.

The rescue took about an hour while three workers sustained mild to moderate injuries and were transported to the hospital for treatment.
