Dubai Police in cooperation with Al Fajr will offer 12 former drug addicts a chance to perform Haj this year.

General Abdul Jalil Mahdhi Al Asmawi, Director-General of Dubai Anti Narcotic Department, said the department works closely with addicts and makes an effort to join hands with various institutions in order to help integrate them with society.

Adel Al Baoh, owner of Al Fajr, handed over two cheques -  Dh184,000 and Dh36,000 - given by donators to help 12 ex-addicts perform Haj this year, said Al Asmawi.

"Those who repent must be given a chance to live life fully. So we not only pay attention to their treatment but also on their future," said Al Asmawi. "We issue a certificate of good conduct and find jobs for them, too," he added.

Emirates National Development Programme of national cadres help these people find jobs. Similarly, Beit Al Khair Society, supports families of ex-addicts by providing them food.
