Dubai Health Authority (DHA) is stepping up the process to go paperless, and will soon launch electronic medical records.

This, officials say, will help patients access their medical files easily, and transfer it to the right hospital.

Essa Al-Maidoor, Director-General of DHA announced the plans to launch the Smart Personal Medical File and informed that all smart solutions projects will be completed by the end of 2017.

A DHA delegation, headed by Al-Maidoor, is currently attending Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) conference and exhibition in the USA, to learn, adapt and source material and technology to build the "e-medical" database.

Al Maidoor stressed on the importance of establishing a comprehensive healthcare database as it plays a vital role in positively changing the habits and lifestyles of people.

He added that a recent US study showed that 70 per cent of medical practitioners use smart apps in their practices.
