Emirates ID deadline for registration of children extended to Oct 3

The Emirates Identity Authority (Eida) has announced the extension of the deadline for registering national and resident children under 15 years until October 3, 2012.

Eida took action after considering those who have not been able to register yet and to help them avoid late-registration fees.

The authority had earlier affirmed that children under 15 years in the UAE must register before October 1, 2012, and said the three-day grace period has been given in response to appeals from parents who have missed the deadline.

This excludes children whose residence visas expire before December 31, 2012, and provided they ensure to register by the time of their residence visa renewal before the year-end.

Eida clarified that the overwhelming rush of applicants to typing centres over the last few days had put strain on the e-payment system and some clients failed to finalise fee payment in these centres.

The authority urged parents to seize the grace period to expedite registration of their children through more than 1,200 typing centres across the country.
