An emirati has been accused of cheating an Iranian woman  for the past couple of years.

FH, 44, housewife, told police that for more than two years AA, 31, a businessman, has been taking jewellery and gold from her promising to sell them to Russian traders for higher prices.

The accused, a friend of FH's son Ibrahim, also showed her a room he claimed to have leased in Burj Al Arab to showcase the jewellery to traders.

FH said that each time the accused, who addressed her as 'mother' visited her he used a different car. And, therefore, she believed whatever he said and never suspected him.

Once FH gave AA 11 bullions worth Dh850,000 and in return he handed over a cheque of Dh500,000 to her.

Prior to that she had already given him jewellery and watches worth about Dh673,000.

One day she gave AA jewellery worth Dh2.825 million, which her husband's friend, MH, gave her.

Shortly after that FH received a call from the accused saying that he has asked some traders to take the bag of gold and escape as the police had tracked him down.

But a few days later, FH received yet another call form the accused, and this time from Thailand, telling her that she can collect some jewellery which he left behind with his father.

However, on contacting his father, FH was told that the man had received a call from the accused asking him not to part with the gold as he had already sold it.

Meanwhile, the cheque she submitted had bounced.

The interpol has arrested the accused and handed him over to Dubai Police.

The accused has denied the accusation and the Dubai Misdemeanor Court has adjourned the case until August 9.
