Emirati family tragedy after RAK accident: Third death in a week

Tragedy struck again for an Emirati family which had an accident in Ras Al Khaimah last week, with the death of a woman who was among four injured in the crash.

Samira, 30, died on Monday night to join her 26-year-old sister Amal and 24-year-old brother Rashid, who have succumbed to their injuries a few days within each other since they had that serious road mishap on Toubeen Road in the northern emirate.

The only survivor, Hassan, is still lying in a private hospital in Dubai and relatives said his condition remains unstable.

Amal died just after their car rammed into a truck last week after the driver Rashid tried to overtake the vehicle on that one-way road while Rashid died on Sunday.

“Samira died on Monday night because of her serious injuries. Her brother Hassan has been moved to a private hospital in Dubai,” Emarat Al Youm Arabic language daily said, quoting their uncle Hassan Al Sagheeri.

He said that their father Saeed, a resident of Fujairah, has had a nervous breakdown and could not attend their funeral.

“He even did not know that his daughter Samira died. That’s why he was not at her funeral either,” he said.

The paper quoted him as saying Hassan suffered from fractures in various parts of his body and hemorrhage in the brain and spleen.

“He is still lying at a private hospital in Dubai in an unstable condition,” he added.
