A well known Emirati plastic surgeon was killed when his motorcycle was hit by a car which jumped the red signal in Dubai and police said he did not have a proper head helmet before the accident.

Dr Ali Al Numairi has just left the Gulf Medical Hospital and was heading towards the floating bridge when a car driven by an Indian man crashed into him,

“The impact was so strong that Numairi was flung away from his motorcycle and fell on his head…he died on the spot,” Dubai traffic police chief Major General Mohammed Al Zafin said, quoted by the Arabic language daily Emirat Alyoum.

“We found that Numairi was not wearing a proper helmet as the helmet found on his head was made of cloth, which was not enough to protect his head….I didn’t know the Dr was a professional motorcyclist…….I regret his death and offer my condolences to his family for such a big loss.”

Emirat Alyoum said Numairi was deputy chairman of Arab doctors union and a former plastic surgery consultant at Rashid Hospital. He was one of the founders of the UAE motorcyclists group known as “The Emirates Tigers.”

The paper said Numairi is the first Emirati plastic surgeon to die in a car crash, adding that he held several high medical certificates from Egypt and France.

“A few days ago, Numairi celebrated the wedding of his son, Hussein, in the presence of many officials and dignitaries in the country,” it said without specifying his age.
