An Emirati teenager lost his life in a fatal car accident in Al Ain on Sunday.

The 17-year-old was immediately rushed to Tawam Hospital but succumbed to injuries shortly thereafter, reported the Traffic and Patrols department, Abu Dhabi.

Colonel Hamad Nasser Al Balushi, Director, Roads Department, Directorate of Traffic and Patrols, General Command of Abu Dhabi Police, said the fatal accident was the result of speeding by the tanker driver.

The four-wheel vehicle driven by the boy crashed into the water tanker on Hazza bin Sultan Street in Al Ain’s Al Tauwiah district.

Colonel Al Balushi urged parents not to allow underage kids to drive. He added that it is the combined responsibility of educational institutions, police and parents to educate kids and make them aware of the dangers of driving before attaining a valid licence.

Investigations are on.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident and Emirati woman and her sons had a miraculous escape when their car broke out in a ball of fire in Ras Al Khaimah on Saturday night.
