A restaurant boat docked in Dubai Marina Yacht Club went up in flames on Wednesday evening.

The yacht was the property of the yacht rental company Waterworld, confirmed a spokesperson of the company.

According to Dubai Civil Defence, nobody was injured in the fire, which was reported at 7.30pm and was brought under control within 8 minutes of the arrival of Civil Defence firefighters.

The total number of people on the boat at the time of the incident is unclear.

The site of the fire was behind the Dubai Marina mosque next to Byblos, where nothing more than the skeleton of the luxury yacht remained at the end of the evening.

The yacht is a three-story luxury vessel used for sightseeing cruises during the day, and buffet dinner parties during the evening.

The marina’s walkway was partially blocked, and people had gathered to watch the yacht go up in flames.

‎Dubai Marine Yacht Club has said it would send out an official report of the incident later today.
