Dubai Customs staff joined the nation today 30th November 2016 in mourning and honouring the UAE martyrs.

All staff stood to observe a moment of silence and prayer at 11.30am in front of the half-mast flag at Dubai Customs main building. They all prayed to the Almighty to give martyrs the highest place in Heaven and help their families to cope up with the loss.

After the silence, Abdullah Al Khaja, the Executive Director of Customer Management Division at Dubai Customs raised the flag from half-mast as those in attendance sang the National Anthem.

Commenting on the occasion, Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DP World said: “The ceremony was an important way for the country to unite in support of its soldiers and leadership. The brave men of our Armed Forces are risking their lives to protect all of us and on the second Martyrs’ Day we commemorate those who have fallen performing their duty”.

Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs said:
“These brave men have sacrificed their lives protecting us and by having a minute’s silence we can take a moment out of our day to remember what they have done”.

“The memory of our brave martyrs will remain in our minds forever. They are the reason for our security, unity and loyalty to our homeland, and our national identity. We bow in respect to the sacrifices made by the nation’s martyrs and its loyal people, who offered their lives to keep the UAE flag flying high while they were performing their national duties within and outside the country” he added.
