Fog alert in Abu Dhabi; visibility drops

Dense fog is being reported in parts of Abu Dhabi this morning, with visibility dropping to 500 metres according to the UAE’s weather bureau.

Abu Dhabi Police also issued a warning for morning commuters via its official Twitter account, stating: “Low visibility due to fog formation on different parts in Abu Dhabi and highways. Motorists are urged to take extra caution.”

The National Center for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) that visibility had dropped to 500m over western coastal areas due to the mist.

The UAE weather, which experienced a dip in Mercury earlier this week, is gradually seeing temperatures rise to the sizzling summer heat.

According to the NCMS, the highest temperature recorded over the country on Wednesday was 40.6°C in Swiehan at 1pm.

The Mercury is further expected to climb a few notches over the next 48 hours, with light to moderate winds in general.

Meanwhile, the humidity levels will hit highs of 90 per cent at the coastal and internal areas, giving further rise to fog formation late night and the morning hours this weekend.
