The muggy, foggy weather is expected to continue over the weekend, with a spike in humidity levels adding to the discomfort of the soaring temperatures.

Residents of the UAE should take note, Friday morning will see the increase of fog and mist formation over coastal and internal areas, stated the country’s National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS), adding that increase in the humidity levels will play a damper in the morning hours.

The NCMS further added that Friday will bring ‘partly cloudy and hazy weather over some areas with some scattered clouds expected to develop eastwards.”

It continued: “Moderate winds in general, freshening at times during afternoon, will cause blowing dust, which may reduce visibility.”

A marine alert is also in place with the sea expected to be rough in the Arabian Gulf, and moderate in Oman Sea, while rough at times over the Strait of Hormuz.

On Saturday, the weather will remain cloudy and hazy in the east, some of which may be convective by afternoon.

It added: “Moderate winds in general, freshening at times during noon, will cause blowing dust and sand and reduce visibility.

“The relative humidity will increase during night and early morning times over some internal and coastal areas with a chance of mist and fog formation. The sea will be rough in the Arabian Gulf and moderate in the Oman Sea.”

Be prepared for the heat

Earlier, the NCMS stated the beginning of Ramadan, specifically on June on 21, the sun will be perpendicularly overhead the Tropic of Cancer, with the UAE witnessing the longest days of the year.

Temperatures on Sunday are expected to spike, marking the beginning of the summer season.

The NCMS also stated the average temperature during June is between 33 and 35°Celsius, while it can hit highs of 43 °C; the highest temperature recorded during the month of June 52°C in Yasat in 2010.

The NCMS added: “The relative humidity increases slightly during this month, leading to an increase of heat sense feeling especially during night; the fog occurrences are decreasing with advancing the days of this holy month.”
