4 home appliances recalled in UAE

In its efforts to ensure customer safety, Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC) has recalled four more home products, the latest ones on its list of unsafe appliances to be used at home.

Of these four products, three are small kitchen appliances. So, get rid of them if you already have one and be wary of buying one if you spot them in a shop or on any of the classified websites that sell used products.

1# Deep fat fryer

This first product on the list is a Black and Decker deep fryer. It is used for frying but the critical part of the product cannot withstand extreme heat and there is a possibility of short circuit and fire. Model number EF1220 is the one listed by authorities.

2# Induction hot plate

The next on the list is an induction hot plate that many people use at home as an alternative to the conventional gas cooker. However, this product from Nevica can be a possible cause for electric shock and fire. Model no./batch no./Identification no. NV-774 is the one to watch out for.

3# Roti Maker

The third kitchen appliance is a roti maker, again by Nevica. Model no NV-503TCM has been recalled in the UAE as a critical part of the electrical appliance cannot withstand extreme heat leading to a possibility of short circuit and fire.

4# Pedestal fan

The fourth on the list of recalled products is a pedestal fan by Nevica. Model number NV-49PFR can be a cause of short circuit and fire as the appliance cannot withstand extreme heat.

To provide better service in alerting people of UAE to unsafe, hazardous or defective products, Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council reports on dangerous products and its flaws to ensure safety of consumers.

QCC not only warns and advises consumers of all the recalled products that do not comply with safety requirements but also permits consumers to report injuries and incidents caused by consumer products in their system to increase awareness.

The council helps in providing services that live up to quality and conformity standards, boost the infrastructure towards sustainable development and raise the quality of traded products in order to enhance consumers trust and achieve competitiveness in the business and industrial sectors.
