Man hit by metal piece which broke off the ride and landed on his head

A man died in an accident at the Funfair Area of Global Village on Thursday evening after which the authorities decided to close rides area, according to a a press statement.

“Global Village announces the suspension of the operations of the funfair rides area, which are owned and operated by Freij Entertainment, until further notice. These precautions come as a result of yesterday’s sad accident at the funfair area, where one of Global Village visitors has passed away," the statement said.

Three people have been arrested for the death, Dubai Police confirmed.

Dubai Police and the authorities concerned have launched a full investigation into this tragic incident. The funfair area at Global Village is fully managed by and comes under the full responsibility of the operator. There will be further announcements once the investigations and results of the inquiry are completed, the statement said.

The man was said to be hit by a metal piece which broke off the ride and landed on the man's head.

The park’s management assured to provide full support in the investigations of the cause of the accident, noting that Global Village always cooperates with Official Authorities and Government Bodies to implement the standards and laws in all areas.

Moreover, a team of safety inspectors from Dubai Municipality was at the accident scene in order to carry out the necessary investigations of this tragic incidents.

Global Village CEO met with the staff to discuss work process and means to further facilitate investigations with the concerned authorities.

The concerned authorities have also decided to suspend the operations of the ride until further notice.
