It’s a month before schools close for summer, but parents are already signing up their kids for fun camps to keep their tiny ones entertained and away from mischief during holidays. So, if you are yet to do your summer homework, then we’ll help you get up to speed with it.

Here are our top picks for the school break.

Football camp
The perfect camp for those children aspiring to step into football star Messi’s shoes. The camp runs from June 15-August 28 at Dubai Sports World, Dubai World Trade Centre, and are timed from 9am–12noon, and 1pm–4pm. Children are required to bring their own snacks and water, and must wear comfortable trainers and clothing.

It costs Dh125 for 3-hours (per day) / Dh200 for 6-hours (per day) / Dh500 for 3-hours (per day weekly) / Dh800 for 6-hours (per day weekly).

Basketball camp

The same camp also holds exclusive basketball training during the same period at the Dubai Sports World, Dubai World Trade Centre. The timings are between 1pm and 4pm from Sunday to Thursday, and costs Dh125 per day or Dh500 per week.

Dance workshops

Whether it’s the ballet, tap or jazz, dance expert Lisa Payne will show children how to make the right moves. It’s a fun way to learn a new skill, while keeping the kids entertained and physically fit. Dial 050-8754982 or e-mail - info@lisadancedubai.com<mail to:info@lisadancedubai.com>.

Working the brain
If you thought school break is all about physical activity, then you are wrong. The Summer Brain Camp is armed to ensure your kiddos are working their brain cells even when there’s no school. And this, we are told isn’t a bad thing! It’s apparently done to “avoid brain drain”.

That said, the activities aren’t too taxing on the children, and incorporates non-academic fun, and challenging activities. And, these, the organizers claim will help improve the children’s focus, memory, visual and auditory processing and will have a direct impact on their confidence and self-esteem.
