Indian to build houses for Nepal quake victims

An Indian businessman in the Gulf will build 200 earthquake-resistant houses for those affected by the devastating earthquake in Nepal.

Dr Ravi Pillai, Chairman and CEO of RP Group of Companies, said, “We express our deepest condolences to the bereaved families and extend our full solidarity to the people of Nepal on the ongoing rescue and rehabilitation work. Thousands of people from Nepal are part of our workforce and we share their grief. The group will extend financial support to build 200 houses.”

Earlier, RP Foundation was in the news for facilitating marriages of 250 poor Indian women by giving their dowry, building them a house each and giving jobs to their bridegrooms.

RP Group has branches Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Abu Dhabi and Dubai and is into sectors such as construction, healthcare, education, travel and tourism. 

Dr Ravi Pillai has previously also donated houses to 250 families globally (180 in Kerala). He actively supported Indian Government and local authorities during the 2004 tsunami and the Gujarat earthquake. RP foundation also gives scholarships to 1,500 poor students for higher education.
