This comes just in time, with just a couple of days before we all settle down for a long weekend here in the UAE.

Thursday, May 5, has been declared as an official holiday for the public and private sectors to mark the 'Israa and Miraj' holiday. Work will resume on Sunday May 8.

If you’re planning on traveling anytime from now until the middle of June, UAE airlines are offering some good deals on airfares to several popular destinations.

This is also the time before the peak season kicks in, when schools are officially closed for the summer holidays in the country, leading to a spike in ticket prices.

Budget carrier Air Arabia is currently running its 48-hour special offer, offering all-inclusive return tickets starting at Dh444 to selected destinations.

As many as 15 destinations have been listed under the promotion. Tickets need to be booked until tomorrow, May 3, for travel until June 15, 2016.

Return fares from Sharjah to Tehran are priced at Dh444; to Karachi at Dh660; to Delhi at Dh872 and to Mumbai at Dh923, all under the Dh1,000 bracket for a return ticket.

Ticket prices on www.farecompare.com shows that a round-trip on Jet Airways from Dubai to Kochi costs Dh738 onwards if you travel between May 12 until the 24th of the month. To travel to Mangalore with the same airline will cost Dh944 if you are travelling closer to the end of the month.

It also lists a Dh977 round-trip fare from Dubai to Moscow on Ural in the month of May (travel dates May 18-25).

The website shows a return ticket priced at Dh753 on flydubai to Delhi if your travel dates are between May 5 and May 20.

However, these prices may vary by departure city. Baggage fees may apply and deals will be subject to availability.

According to Dubai based Emirates airline, it’s best to book early if you want good deals. The airline says you should ideally book your flight at least 45 days before departure to get their best fares.

However, blackout and seasonality restrictions may apply and weekend travel surcharge (outbound: Friday, inbound: Friday to Saturday) may hike up the price.
