Maid endangers life of handicapped girl, jailed

An Asian housemaid tried to kill the handicapped daughter of her employer in Khor Fakkan by mixing her drinking water with insecticide.

The girl’s mother told court that she prevented the crime when she noticed that the water in the bottle had a strange colour and told her daughter not to drink it.

The maid denied she added anything to the water although laboratory tests showed the water contained insecticide.

During trial on Tuesday, the judge sentenced the unnamed maid to one year in prison and ordered her deportation from the UAE.
