Maid jailed for stealing Dh30,000 from employer

An Ethiopian housemaid, who was arrested four years after stealing Dh30,000 from her employer, was sentenced to three months in  jail followed by deportation by Dubai Criminal Court.

Jihad Ali, 55, Lebanese, insurance consultant, had notified police on July 24, 2006, that his housemaid was missing along with Dh30,000 from his house.

He told police that he woke up at 7am and waited for the housemaid to bring him a cup of coffee as usual, but she did not. As he did not find her in the house, he checked his treasury box in his bedroom and found Dh30,000 was missing.

KWJ, 22, confessed before prosecution and Dubai Criminal Court of the theft and was awarded three months jail followed by deportation.
