Maid with stomach pain found pregnant

An Asian housemaid who went to hospital in Fujairah after feeling pain in the stomach was found to be pregnant. She is not married.

Police arrested the maid on charges of having an illegitimate relationship after she was found to be pregnant in the third month.

Abu Dhabi’s police arrested an Arab man and his wife for allegedly murdering their Asian housemaid by setting her on fire while she was still alive.

Following an argument, the wife beat the maid up before calling her husband who came and severely tortured the worker.

Thinking she was dead, the couple then poured petrol on the maid and set her on fire at their home in the capital. They then carried the charred body and buried it in the desert.

Newspapers said the man and his wife then took their children and went for a holiday in another emirate but the murder was exposed and they were later arrested.

The prosecutor charged the two with premeditated murder and illegal hiring of a domestic worker. They are to stand trial shortly.
