Marhaba Madrasty: It’s back to school for 1m students in UAE

About 1,036,996 students in both public and private schools joined schools today, marking the start of new academic year 2016-17.

According to a report in Arabic daily Al Bayan, Tuesday (August 30, 2016) will mark the beginning of the academic year for kindergarten students.

The number of government school students in Abu Dhabi is 130,324 students, while the number of students in private education is to 237,290 students.

In Dubai, the number of students in the government education is 29,400 students, while in the private education, the number is 259,595.

The number of students in the government schools in Sharjah and Eastern region is 40,770, while there are 172,309 students in private education.

Meanwhile, in Ajman, the number of students in the government education is 15,641 students while there are 46,113 students in private education.

In Umm Al Quwain, the total number of students in government schools is 5,441 while there are 4,846 students in private education.

In Fujairah, the number of students in the government schools is 22450 students while it is 14369 student in the private education.

However, in Ras Al Khaimah, the number of students in the government education is 33294 student while in private education reaching 25154.

Within the Ministry’s preparations for the new academic year, the Ministry will organise the initiative Marhaba Madrasty (Hi My School) this year under the slogan Ahadak Emarati (I promise you my UAE) during the first day of full-time students.
