Smokers in the UAE will be faced with large notices stuck on their cigarette boxes warning them against the unhealthy habit when a rule forcing tobacco firms to stick such notices is enforced in August.
The stickers will include both a warning and a picture and their size must not be less than 50 per cent of the packet’s area.
“These notices will be placed on all tobacco products from August,” the semi official daily Alittihad said, quoting Dr Widad Al
Maidour, head of the counter-smoking team at the Ministry of Health.
She said all tobacco firms had been informed of the decision and that pictures and warning notes have already been selected.
