The body of 21-year UAE national Sultan Al Shehhi was found in a waterfall on Phuket Island, Thailand, on Friday morning, Ambassador of the UAE to Thailand, Omran Al Shamsi, confirmed.
"Upon learning that the said national had gone missing, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), in coordination with the Embassy in Bangkok, initiated search and investigations in cooperation with the competent local authorities," he said.
"Following search and investigations, the Thai authorities were able to find the body.
Procedures to bring his body home to the UAE as soon as possible are being finalised," ambassador Al Shamsi added.
He prayed to Allah Almighty to bestow mercy on the late young man and patience on his family.
