MoH rejects news about diabetes medicine

The UAE’s Ministry of Health (MoH) has announced that the information circulated on the social networking websites about Januvia medicine for diabetes treatment is incorrect.

The information circulated on the social media claims that the medicine perfectly eliminates diabetes in less than a year and its ingredients are extracted from the saliva of a reptile, local Arabic newspapers Emarat Al Youm and Al Khaleej reported.

Dr. Amin Hussain Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Policy and Licensing, said the drug is registered with the Ministry of Health since 2006 and it’s not extracted from the saliva of a reptile.

He stressed that the medicine can be used after the prescription of the doctor only and no one should consume it without consulting the doctor.
