Mohammed receives Arabic Language Charter Committee

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, received the chairman and members of the Arabic Language Charter Development Committee at Emirates Towers in Dubai on Sunday.

Last year, Sheikh Mohammed had ordered the formation of an international committee of experts to promote Arabic as the language of science and technology.

During the meeting attended by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed discussed with the committee’s head Dr Farouk Al Baz, the committee's action plan which targets reforms in teaching and learning the Arabic language in schools and universities.

Sheikh Mohammed urged the committee members to put their knowledge and expertise to identifying innovative solutions to realise the objectives of his initiative for reviving the Arabic language.

Also present were Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais, Director of Dubai Protocol Department Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, Director-General of the Office of the Prime Minister Ohood Roumi and senior officials.
