His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai received a group of intellectuals, writers and poets from the UAE at Za'abeel Palace on Tuesday evening.
Sheikh Mohammed exchanged congratulations on the holy month of Ramadan with his guests, who wished him happiness and health, as well as further prosperity for the UAE and its people, in the presence of Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Dubai Deputy Ruler Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
After welcoming his guests, Sheikh Mohammed said that his esteemed guests were a conduit for the nation's humanitarian message and values that promote justice and solidarity amongst the community.
He added that they bore responsibility for promoting the UAE's cultural heritage and national identity that prides itself on its openness to other cultures.
Sheikh Mohammed called on the scholars to increase their activities in the local and international arenas, while boosting communication with other cultures from around the world, in such a way that reflects the authenticity of the UAE's Arab and Islamic heritage.
He pointed to the creation of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Community Development, as proof of the leadership's keen interest in promoting the cultural heritage of the UAE.
In response, Sheikh Mohammed's guests thanked him for his continuous support for them and their activities, describing him as a leader of the cultural movement and an inspiring leader.
Also present at the reception were Chairman of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority Sheikh Majid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Cabinet Affairs Minister Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Youth, Culture and Community Development Abdul Rahman Mohammed Nassir Al Owais, Deputy Chairman of the Mohammed Al Murr Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, Dubai Ruler's Advisor for Humanitarian and Cultural Affairs Ibrahim Mohammed Bu Melha and Chairman of the Emirates Human Rights Association Abdul Ghaffar Hussein.
Following the reception Sheikh Mohammed performed Al Maghreb prayers, after which he hosted an iftar banquet in honour of his guests.
