Over 1,000 kids lost at Global Village last season

More than 1,000 children were lost at the Global Village last season, according to top official from Al Ameen Secret Police services in Dubai.

Speaking to ‘Emirates24|7’, a source from Al Ameen said that 1,047 children were lost at Global Village last season, and were hosted by Al Ameen room at the Village.

“Of these, 527 children were girls, and 575 children boys. These kids were lost while their parents were busy shopping or eating at the village,” he said.

According to him, parents must be more careful and pay full attention to their children.

“Global Village is a huge place, and it is crowded most of the time. Parents must pay full attention to their children at all times.”

He added that they have also provided wrist identification bands at the entrances of Global Village for parents to use and put their contact details on it. This is used to contact them if their children get lost.

He pointed out that the highest number of kids were lost in the month of December, when the numbers hit 319, while the least number of kids were lost in November with only 111 children reported lost.

“We have allocated a big room at the Global Village where lost kids are hosted until we find their parents. In this room, we have staff who takes care of these kids and also a play area for them to make them feel safe and break the tension and fear of strangers.”

He stressed that it is important parents try to avoid crowded areas or if they wanted to go, then they need to be extra careful.
