New radar snaps 134 violations in 2 hours

‎Dubai Police has introduced a new highly advanced radar that can monitor road shoulder violation.

Major General Khamis Mattar Al Muzainah, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, unveiled the radar's first prototype which proved to be successful recording 134 violations on Emirates Road in two hours.

He said Dubai Police plans to install 20 radars on Emirates Road to prevent hard shoulder violations.

He added that the new radars are highly accurate and are intended to catch violators of road safety, especially those who drive into hard shoulder areas.

Al Muzainah added that Dubai police is keen to diversify methods of monitoring the roads in the emirate to detect violations and save lives.

Al Muzainah said drivers committing hard shoulder offences will face 30-day vehicle impoundment, a fine of Dh600 and have six black points.
