Abu Dhabi General Services Company, Musanada, has completed 83 per cent of the new Abu Dhabi-Dubai highway, while work is progressing as planned in accordance with the highest standards to deliver the project by the end of this year.

The execution of the new highway has followed a detailed study of the conditions and volume of daily traffic between Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The four-lane highway will have a capacity of 8,000 vehicles per hour, i.e. 2,000 vehicles per each lane. Functioning as an alternative route to the existing E11 Abu Dhabi-Dubai highway, the new motorway will form a strategic link that will provide additional capacity to traffic movement, particularly during peak hours.

The highway project is an extension of the Mohamed bin Zayed Road in Seih Shuaib at the Dubai border.

It will pass through the Forest Belt, Al Maha Forest, Kizad, Bida Khalifa, crossing the Al Ajban Road, passing through Abu Mureikha, Zayed Military City, Al Falah area to the Sweihan Interchange on the Abu Dhabi-Sweihan Road.

The project will also include six interchanges, including the Kizad Interchange, and six underground passes.

The total cost of the 62-km highway project is approximately Dh2.1 billion, and it extends from Seih Shuaib area to Sweihan Interchange.

The work is progressing as per the approved plans and schedule.

"This road project will provide a new link to Abu Dhabi city, toward the international airport and Yas and Saadiyat islands. It will help improve traffic flow between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, easing traffic congestion and reducing the accident rates," said Hamdan Al Marzouei, Musanada’s Acting Roads Director.
