New paid parking bays in Abu Dhabi

The Department of Transport (DoT) in Abu Dhabi has activated a number of regulatory parking bays in sector W59-01, located between Rabdan Street north, Al Safarat Street south, Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street East, and Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street West.

The 69 regulatory parking bays launched are for the specific purpose of pick-up and drop-off and comes as part of Mawaqif’s efforts to organise car parking and to ease traffic flow in the sector as it witnesses heavy movement of vehicles, said Mohammed Hamad bin Fahad Al Muhairi, General Manager of Mawaqif Division.

Al Muhairi noted that DoT calls on all road users to commit to Mawaqif regulations and guidelines in order to avoid traffic violation.

The move is part of DoT’s strategy to come up with efficient solutions to car parking management in Abu Dhabi, enabling road users to reach their destinations hassle-free, and in accordance with its relentless efforts to improve the transport infrastructure in the emirate, DoT announced Mawaqif programme was launched by DoT in Abu Dhabi in 2009 to manage and organise vehicles parking bays in the emirate.
