The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has stated that school timings during the coming holy month of Ramadan will remain unchanged.

Emirates 24|7 had earlier reported about how parents had urged a change in Ramadan timings as they think that  common hours for all students will cause traffic jams (https://www.emirates247.com/news/emirates/parents-urge-change-in-ramadan-timings-for-dubai-schools-2015-05-29-1.592224).

“For this academic year, school hours during Ramadan will be from 8.30am to 1.30pm, with shorter breaks. This is applicable to all grades and for all students,” said Mohammed Darwish, Chief of Regulations and Permits Commission.

The education regulatory authority had sent out a directive to all private schools in Dubai stating the timings and eating arrangements that schools need to put in place during the holy month.

“It is important that fasting students are supported to continue with normal school life. In order to accommodate their needs, the school should ensure that they do not engage in demanding physical activities and they are not exposed to heat to reduce the risk of dehydration,” the guideline read.

“Out of respect for the holy month and for fasting students, staff and parents, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the public areas of the school and should be limited to designated areas,” it added.
