No-pet policy to stay at Dubai’s JBR

DPG puts end to rumours that policy on pets in the master community would be eased

The “no-pet” policy in Dubai’s upscale Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) master community is strictly in effect and unlikely to be eased.

Dubai Properties Group, master developer of the 36 residential towers, confirmed to Emirates 24/|7 that the no-pet policy was in force, as it called on residents, who have sneaked pets to remove them from their apartments.

“This is outlined in the Co-Owners Association Constitution, which clearly states that an owner or resident shall not allow pets of any kind in his unit, save for aquariums,” a company spokesperson said.

“Furthermore, an owner or resident is prohibited from erecting structures to house animals or birds.”

This puts an end to rumours that have been flowing thick and fast for the past few weeks about Dubai Properties/Taziz likely to ease their policy on pets in the master community.

Abdul Farhan, a resident, said: “A lot of residents here have been talking about the developer now planning to ease its no pet policy, but we never got any official notice from them on this.”

Asked if DPG was likely to change their policy, the spokesperson stated: “No, the policy remains in effect as it is for the benefit of the residents and wider community.”

Taziz, the appointed community manager at JBR, she informed is continuing to communicate with residents to enforce this in accordance with the co-owners association constitution.

James Hamill, who has been staying in JBR for the past two years, says: “We know of one resident on our floor who has kept a pet (cat). I don’t have a problem with him as long there is no nuisance and our surroundings remain clean.”

Asked what action is taken if residents don't comply with the policy, the spokesperson revealed: “When violations are identified, these residents are sent warning notifications giving them a timeframe to remove their pets from the apartment.

“In instances of repeated violations, the matter is escalated further to the security team and Dubai Municipality for further action.

“Representatives from Dubai Municipality have also visited some apartments to address this issue with residents.”

And is there any penalty?

“Taziz communicates frequently with tenants and owners to remind them of the policy, and information is also featured on the JBR portal.

“If there is no action taken by the tenant or owners, they are sent written notices, or it is escalated to Dubai Municipality to take the matter further,” the spokesperson said.

So - if Dubai Properties are approached by a visually impaired individual who wants to rent or buy an apartment in JBR and who has a guide dog to assist them - Dubai Properties will not allow this person to rent or purchase the apartment???

To Joanna...... if you're keeping cats in cages then you definitely shouldn't be allowed pets!

The "no pet" allowed is not implemented in JBR as many maids take the pets to the Plaza level passing security people in the lobby with no remarks from them.
