Dubai Health Authority has launched a new service to allow visa-renewal medical tests from home or office.

The service called Tawajod is available at a fee of Dh1010 per applicant, besides the medical test fee of Dh260. From a single individual, the service can be availed of for groups of up to 70 applicants, reported Al Ittihad.

Initially limited only to visa renewals, the service could be expanded later to cover tests for fresh visas too.

The report quoted Maitha Al Bustani, Head of the Medical Fitness Centre, as saying the service aims at allowing companies who may have several employees due for the mandatory medical tests, while individual applicants can also order for the service through the medical authority’s website www.dha.gov.ae.

She said the service saves times, effort and the discomfort of waiting in long queues at medical examination centres. Online bookings can handle up to 70 applicants at one go, and is hence a suitable option for companies, she said.

The service follows several requests from companies that lamented the loss of man hours wasted during medical tests before every visa renewal, she said. The fee paid is expected to be less than that wasted in case of loss of productivity by employees forced to queue up at medical centres.

The 14 medical examination centres across Dubai processed 509,000 tests during the first nine months of this year, she said.

Nahlah hamid, head of Services Department at the authority, said the service would also help the elderly who can thus avoid standing in long queues.
