If you are going to apply for residence visa today, the General Director for Residence and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA) will not accept photocopies any more, but original documents only.

The new procedures were introduced at the GDRFA’s Dubai centres and headquarters in mid-October.

Starting today, November 15, 2015, the new rules have been extended to all the typing centres as well, hence, residents applying for residence visa must present original documents.

“GDRFA urges its customers to bring original documents when submitting applications. Photocopies will no longer be accepted,” it said in an advertisement.

It also asked residents to bring the Emirates Identity card of the sponsor, applicant and the bank account details when submitting the application.

“It’s important to note that the Emirates ID of the sponsor and applicant, and the International Bank Account Number (IBAN), should be presented when applying.

“GDRFA regrets receiving applications submitted without original documents from said date,” it noted.

Residence can call GDRFA’s toll free number 8005111 for further clarification.
