Open number plate auction on Sept. 12

The Licensing Agency, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), is set to organise the 88th Open Distinguished Number Plates Auction on [September 12 at the Intercontinental Festival City Hotel (Al Ras Ballroom).

About 100 plates will be on offer comprising 2, 3, 4 and 5-digit plates, and registration for the auction will start tomorrow [Sunday, September 6].

“The RTA is inclined to holding public auctions in view of their popularity amongst various community segments who have shown huge passion to attend these auctions for several years as they consider them a perfect platform for gaining distinguished licensing numbers,” said Ahmed Bahrozyan, CEO of RTA Licensing Agency.

“The forthcoming open auction will encompass numbers that will prove a hit with the public including binary, triple, quadruple and quintet plates of F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P & Q codes, thus offering wide selections to number plate enthusiasts. The auction is a splendid opportunity for the public as it comprises a broad range of fancied numbers,” he said noting that open auctions are characterized by thrilling competitions between interested individuals,” he said.

“Registration for the auction will start on September 6 and will continue up to the day of the auction (from 2pm to 4pm), as the bidding will start at 4.30pm.

Registration can be made through RTA’s customers service centers, such as those at Umm Al Ramool, Deira, and Al Barsha, or online through (www.rta.ae).

To complete registration, a security deposit amounting to Dh25,000 has to be made by a cheque, which is retrievable in case no successful bid is made.
