An Abu Dhabi Court of Cassation ordered a local company to pay a worker Dh800,0000 damages after it was found guilty of negligence that resulted in the paralysis of a worker following his fall from a high level.

A Court of First Instance had cleared the company of any charges, prompting the prosecutor to demand a retrial in the court of appeals, which ordered a compensation of only Dh3,000, according to local newspapers.

The prosecutor appealed again to the Court of Cassation which ordered a retrial.

Another court found the company responsible for the worker’s accident by failing to provide enough protection during his work.
